ContainMed was created to manufacture and market the patented VersaPod™ line of instrument trays and accessories - durable, versatile, safe instrument trays which feature color graphics and accessories that can be moved, added, removed, or replaced without special tools.
Founders
ContainMed was founded by Thomas Deal and Cary and Todd Bettenhausen. Tom is a distinguished attorney and entrepreneur with more than 35 years advising and championing small and medium-sized businesses. Cary and Todd are accomplished product designers with more than 20 years experience in surgical instrument and implant storage & delivery systems.
Executive Team
Thomas A. Deal, Chief Executive Officer
A veteran private practice attorney, entrepreneur and advisor to small business clients on strategic planning, Thomas A. Deal serves as Chief Executive Officer of ContainMed Inc. Tom provides crucial leadership and guidance in U.S. patent law and regulatory approval and structuring of the company's financing as ContainMed builds its products, brand and customer base.
Tom is a graduate of Marion College and Indiana University School of Law. Tom was a founding board member and president of the Speedway, Indiana Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Speedway Economic Advisory Board. Tom's entrepreneurial endeavors include residential real estate development and other small business ventures.
Cary Bettenhausen, President
Cary Bettenhausen is President of ContainMed Inc. and, with his twin brother Todd, the co-inventor of the VersaPod instrument tray system. Cary is also co-founder of Twinnovators Inc., a computer-aided design and contract manufacturing firm. Through Twinnovators, Cary has built a broad background in design, development, prototyping and production of medical device packaging, material handling, experimental aviation, motorsports and other products. Cary earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Industrial Technology from Indiana State University's School of Technology. Cary is an inventor with several patents to his name. Cary earned his private pilot's certificate in 1995 and he and Todd are now constructing an amateur-built experimental aircraft.
Todd Bettenhausen, Vice President
Todd Bettenhausen holds the distinction of being, along with his twin brother Cary, one of the premier product designers in the instrument tray industry. As Vice President of ContainMed Inc. and co-inventor of the VersaPod system, Todd draws on his diverse experience with several OEMs including Symmetry Medical and Advantis Medical. Todd and Cary were there early on, contributing their expertise and playing instrumental roles as surgical sterilization and delivery emerged and grew into the business segment it is today. Todd earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Industrial Technology from Indiana State University's School of Technology. He is the President and Co-Owner of Twinnovators Inc. and holds several patents.
Jonathan P. Deal, Director of Sales & Marketing
Jonathan P. Deal is ContainMed's Director of Sales and Marketing. An MBA graduate of Indiana University's Kelly School of Business, Jon brings experience gained in the medical manufacturing industry as well as his own service-oriented start-up business. Jon's career path includes positions in medical sales for Johnson & Johnson and futures auditing for the National Futures Association. In 2006, Jon donned the entrepreneur's hat to found his own company, Midwest Pet Express Inc. Using his well-honed business experience and passion for customer service, Jon has built his company into one of the leading providers in the booming pet transportation industry. Jon now brings that same passion to lead ContainMed's sales and marketing initiatives.
